I just found out. It is really and truly a sad loss for zimbabwe and for HIV/Aids activism in our beloved country. May his souls rest in peace!

my dream is to be like Dr Scott who had a heart of the people of zimbabwe and others not zimbabweans. i pray that he is in heaven where they are golden roads and houses. Thank you Dr Scott for laying the foundation for all those who are missing you and myself I did not know you untill I read about you. May the God almight give us the same wisdom and understanding that you had and continue the good work which you left behind, thank you

We have all known this man who carried himself in a Christ-like fashion. He has paved the road that we can only follow. The standard has been set and we must follow his orders.

In 1977, a young, tall, skinny gentleman walked up to my desk at United California Bank on 14th & Broadway and asked for a loan. Dr. Scott was establishing a medical office in Oakland and needed assistance buying equipment and working capital until his practice produced cash flow. On a financial basis, he did not qualify. However, his passion, dedication and demeanor all told me, “I am going to be a great doctor and can repay that loan.” Over the next several months, he was as good as his word and before I was transferred to another location, he always stopped by my desk to chat, thank me for taking a chance on him and relating his happiness at helping his patients. I have followed his career in the newspapers in his fight against AIDs and am so sorry to hear of Dr. Scott’s passing. He will be greatly missed. Frank Brito

It has taken me several days for this to sink in and a part of me still refuses to allow myself to accept that he is gone. I can't seem to find the words to adequately describe what this man meant to me and the impact he had on the lives of so many here and abroad.
I came to the bay area in 1998 and he was referred to me as primary care doctor. He became so much more than that to me over the years. A friend, mentor, and confidante. Like so many, one of my most memorable and life altering experiences was accompanying Dr. Scott to Zimbabwe. I will never forget the moment traveling down a unpaved dirt road into the Mother of Peace orphanage. Out of nowhere appeared hundreds and hundreds of people surrounding our vehicles. Chanting, dancing, singing, crying, and praising the man we knew as Dr.Scott. Obviously he had come to mean so much more to them.
What I witnessed during my stay at the MOP orphanage was nothing short of a miracle on many levels. These memories will forever be with me.
Thank you Dr. Scott for your love, support, and friendship over the years.
I will miss you, Zimbabwe will miss you, the children at the Mother of Peace will most certainly miss you.

during the worst time of my life, i became a patient of dr. scott's in march 2001...with one phone call from him, i was quickly connected to world class hiv specialists in the bay area...dr scott was extremely dedicated, disciplined, and professional to say the least that responded with such vigor and compassion...often, i watched him in amazement...he asked that i demand world class treatment for those living with hiv and encouraged me to TELL my STORY, so others will tell their story...in his honor, we will...

Wow, I just saw this. I'm a little overwhelmed. Dr. Scott was my doctor for many years. He was an amazing man and he helped so many people. He went beyond what I expected and gave me hope and opportunity. He will be missed by many who he touched and healed.

I can't wrap my mind around the fact that this Soldier for Christ has been silenced and shut-down from "doing". As he was a doer for the common good both at home and abroad. I can just picture the sorrow of his children at the orphanage when the bitter news is leaked to them. And the emptiness felt by our Mother Jean.

Dr. Scott was my son's doctor more than 20 years ago, and also later mine. He embodied compassion and love. We would have been lost without him.
Love abides.....
